Below is a copy of my newsletter sent via email contacts on September 23, 2010, the Autumnal Equinox.
Hello friends,
Happy Autumn to all and wishing you the best of health, joy and prosperity.
In the tradition of Shiatsu, Autumn is a season of ‘letting go’. As the trees let go of the leaves, this Eastern theory asks us to consider what we might be willing to let go of, be it emotional, material or habitual. Is there anything in your busy life which you might benefit from letting go of, to make room for contemplation of something new? This is a question I often ask myself at this beautiful time of year.
Looking for bodywork that addresses how your emotional life impacts your body? Rosen Method bodywork can help relax and uncover the root of chronic muscle pain like no other modality I have experienced. For more information and links click here.
Pregnancy massage, what are the benefits?
*Can relieve anxiety and depression by regulating hormones.
*Regulation of hormones can also contribute to fewer complications during birth.
*Better sleep, massage decreases insomnia.
*Reduction of painful swelling (edema). Leave the office saying, “Hey, my shoes fit again!”.
*Eases both muscle discomfort and those common pregnancy cramps.
*Relief of sciatic pain. Massage releases where muscles impinge on the nerve pathway.
*Post-partum healing and relaxation.
Did your aunt or schoolteacher convince you to never yawn in public? Click here for a truly worthwhile article from the Penn Gazette on why yawning is incredibly healthy. It might change your mind. (Or perhaps persuade you to yawn on purpose a bit more than you usually do–after all, it’s easy to do and also free!)
Curious to know more about what I do? Call me for a complimentary ten minute phone consultation with any questions you may have about my bodywork therapy offerings.
The quote for this newsletter is courtesy of the diversely talented Georgia O’Keefe: “I’ve been absolutely terrified every single moment of my life, and I’ve never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do.” I hope that we all continue developing the awareness and perseverance to stay in touch with the things we really want to do in this life.
Know a friend who might be interested in bodywork? Feel free to forward this info.
